The Evil Installer was created from scratch to be a custom program just for the installation of EVIL. After reading many reports from people not being able to get the patchers out there to work, we did this so installation can be simple and worry free.
Please take the time to read the following so that if anything comes up, you will know what to do.
________________________________________
The Quick and Dirty Way:
1: Load the Installer application,
2: Click the Install Evil button,
3: Find the files that it asks you for from your Original Infinity,
4: Select where to save EVIL folder,
5: Wait for it to do its thing,
6: Then go Play. (rebuilding the desktop might be needed to see the new icons)

The Explained Way:
Load the installer application by double clicking on it. A splashscreen will appear which you can dismiss with a single click. This leads to the Main Window.
The Main Window consists of three buttons and some information. The three buttons do the following:
• Install Evil
This will go through the automated sequence of installing Evil fully from the Installation folder to the selected Hard Drive. It will first ask you where to save the EVIL folder, and then it will ask you for three files. The three files are the Original versions from your Infinity CD or Trilogy CD. They are the Application, Shapes, and Sounds. They do not have to be off the CD, but it is easier and saves copying and space if you just select the ones off your CD (unless the installer is already on a CD).
• Custom
The Custom Installation Window consists of four buttons. The four buttons do the following:
• Sounds
This will patch a clean Infinity Sounds file to the new Cursed Sounds file. It will first ask you where is a valid Infinity Sounds file, and then it will ask you where you want the new Cursed Sounds file saved. Make sure you do not save the file in the same folder as the original, it will overwrite the original.
• Shapes
This will patch a clean Infinity Shapes file to the new Cursed Shapes file. It will first ask you where is a valid Infinity Shapes file, and then it will ask you where you want the new Cursed Shapes file saved. Make sure you do not save the file in the same folder as the original, it will overwrite the original.
• Application
This will patch a clean Infinity Application to the new Evil Application. It will first ask you where is a valid Infinity Application, and then it will ask you where you want the Evil Application saved. Make sure you do not save the file in the same folder as the original, it will overwrite the original.
• Back
This will return you back to the main window.
• Quit
This Quits the Installer.

For Those Who Have Low HD Space:
If you are byte deficient, then there is a way you can get most the files out of the installer without using a lot of hard drive space. Currently, the Installer will install all files where you want them, easy and for you. But you can bypass this and do it the hard way.
All Files for installation are in the Installer Files folder within the Installer folder.
You can open this folder, and drag out the following files (if they are in there):
• Cursed Map
• Cursed Images
• Cursed Physics†
• Cursed Net Maps†
• Cursed Data†
• Music†
† Not included in the small download
Do NOT touch the Data files: App data, Sounds data, Shapes data. These files can only be opened and installed from the installer in the custom area (read above).
Put those listed files where you want EVIL to reside. By doing this, the Installer will not RE-INSTALL these files when you run the Installer. It will only install the patched versions of the Sounds, Shapes, and Application. Thus saving you some disk space for the installation process.
If you have enough disk space for the Install to take place, then by all means do it the Installer way, the easy way. Because, you can always delete off, or archive off, the installer to get that space back on your drive.

WARNINGS:
• YOU WILL NEED INPUTSPROCKETLIB 1.1 OR HIGHER TO RUN EVIL!!! If you do not have the latest version, you should get it. The new 1.5 of Marathon Infinity needs this. Contact Apple for the latest Sprocket information.
• Make sure you have disk space for the installation. If the installer gives you a -39, then check your disk space left and make sure you have enough. If not, then follow the above instructions for a low disk space install method.
• Do not pick a different file than what is asked for. If it asks for an Infinity Sounds file, then pick an Original Infinity Sounds file. If it asks for the Infinity Application, try not to pick some OTHER application, or it will create some really odd thing.
• If your going to do a custom install of a single file, make sure that you do not save the new file in the same folder as the original. It will overwrite the original file with the new one (unless this is what you want to do).
• You might have to rebuild the desktop file after installation in order to get the new Icon set of EVIL to register on all the support files. To rebuild the desktop, hold down command and option at startup before the Finder is brought up.
• You can pick either the Marathon Infinity 1.3 Application or the Marathon Infinity 1.5 Application to install the Evil Application from. The Installer knows which routine to do depending on the two Infinity Versions. What you end up with is EVIL 1.5, which is the latest Infinity adjusted to work as EVIL.
• Do not remove any 'data' files from the Installer Files folder. Doing so will guarantee unpredictable results if that operation is performed in the Installer. The data files are the Sounds Data, Shapes Data, and App Data 1.
• Make sure you have read this readme on how to use the installer before complaining that something didn't work. Everything works, if you follow the directions.
